Rebel Love
(c) (p) 2010 Jycan

The album “Rebel Love” by Jycan (Johann Schmid) starts with dynamic electronic beats on “Back to Crosstown”. The tracks “Praise of the Shadow” and “Graffiti” following it continue to exploit the high temp. And it doesn’t slow down on next tracks such as “Rebel Love” or “Young the Beast”.
Johann Schmid works on the junction of techno and electronic with a touch of nu jazz and rock. As a result he creates synthetic music for background. There are the sounds of sleepless hectic cities which don’t stop their pulsation for a moment. A certain dramatic effect is inherent in the music of Johann Schmid. In general I could characterize it as experimental electronic music with various ideas which can be unfolded in the future projects of this talented artist.
My favorite composition from “Rebel Love” is the concluding theme “Hashiman”. There are very interesting world music influences which are mixed with sometimes ambient, sometimes techno electronica and rock.
