While gaining experience of the years past
Why should we bear such a lot of pain?...
All of us are connected with each other in this
world. And these connections are so close that we just have no idea of that.
Devastations and anguish which happen in one place of our planet have an
inevitable influence on other places which seem to be quite safe and successful.
And not only actions but even words and thoughts of people exert influence
upon others. It is impossible to conceal your spirit’s deepest deep,
it will become inevitably apparent… A delusive illusion of
secrecy…
The connections of people who are living on the
planet, their relations with each other and with the outward things plunged
Oystein Sevag, a Norwegian composer, into creating this album. It is a paradox:
in the world that was created for love there is so much pain which makes
impossible to descry anything around. Why do people need all this? Why do
they keep saving a heavy burden of losses? What does hinder them from gaining
another, positive experience in love and success? All these themes are in
Oystein Sevag’s music.
I’ve been looking forward to the issue of a
new album of the outstanding Norwegian composer. And now having put
“Caravan” on I am hearing a little bit melancholic, cognate
composer’s manner in the compositions “Wind” and “Casa
dei Mezzo”. A polished, refined music in which there is an intensity
of sincere feelings. The music that is run through Oystein Sevag’s own
universe… The album begins with the composition “Breaking up”
that is not typical for the composer. There is chaos and internal strife
in it. And, as ever, Oystein Sevag’s music is a perfectly tuned and
a very harmonious one.
There is a lot of pain and misery in the composition
“Consolation”. An acoustic guitar by Lakki Patey, a tender violin
by Maria Sevag and a gentle, lulling saxophone by Bendik Hofseth in “Moving
on” are like a healing for an exhausted soul. The arrangement of the
composition “After all” is very interesting, “gentle”.
As usual the album “Caravan” was recorded by the team of first-rate
musicians. In addition to aforesaid performers, Eivind Aarset – an electric
guitar, Audun Erlien – a bass guitar, Paolo Vinaccia – drums,
percussion, Elin Synnove Brathen – a vocal, Annette Schmidt – a
viola, and Ute Peresilge – a cello, participated in this project. And,
no doubt, Oystein Sevag plays parts of piano, keys and programming, xaphoon
and bass guitar.
For the first time we can hear the composition followed
by lyrics (”Seen from above”). And as always Oystein Sevag’s
music is very intelligent.
The album “Caravan” is a real gift for
numerous admirers of Oystein Sevag who have been waiting so long for the
issue of the composer’s new project, as well as for all amateurs of
new age music, the music of common mankind residence which has no borders.
And the God becomes apparent in this diversity and full colority of the outward
things….
Having made free the real world from the deceit
Then you will see how wonderful it is…
