FORTHYTO
Seeming Calm
(c) (p) 2006 Splasc(H) Records

“Seeming Calm” is the latest album of Forthyto and his group. Forthyto is the pseudonym of Vito Quaranta – Italian composer, guitarist with a master degree in Jazz music at “Nino Rota Conservatory”.
How can Forthyto’s music be characterized? This is not only jazz. This is music which crosses the borders between various genres. And it is very piercing and clear. It reminded me of Windham Hill Records’ releases (for example, Nightnoise’s albums). Forthyto’s compositions are filled with transparency and weightlessness. As you listen to “Seeming Calm”, you just fly in the aerial streams of inspired Forthyto’s music.
“Seeming Calm” is a very talented work. This is the music of modern time. Inner dynamism inheres in Forthyto’s compositions. They are quickly changing and moving. Diverse moods are present in Forthyto’s music. But it is imbued with optimism and positive energy.
Forthyto’s album will be interesting not only jazz admirers but also lovers of contemporary instrumental and out of style music. “Seeming Calm” truly is an innovator’s work. This is music which oversteps the limits!
